The Great American Book Tour…

…will have to wait until I have a low mileage vehicle.  Or possibly a motorcycle.  (I do know how to ride one.  Used to tear up the country roads southeast of my house when I was too young to drive a car.  But that’s another story, and one we probably shouldn’t share with the police, who have enough to worry about as it is.)

I do, however, have a sweet alternative to the above.  A couple of Midwest signings that I expect every one of you to attend, despite the fact that I know some of you will have to fly for at least twelve hours to do so.  (Okay, okay, maybe I’ll give you guys a break this time, seeing as how you’ve got jobs and families and lives and crap.  But next time–I’ll probably just come to you.)

Everybody else, come out and party with me, yeah?  It’s gonna be great.  In fact, I’ve decided to do a countdown to the signing dates on the website here, accompanied by terrific ideas as to how to make the events a wowsa experience.  If you want to throw some ideas into the mix, feel free.  I’ll be happy to post them should they tickle my funnybone.  Here are the down-and-dirties:

SATURDAY, AUGUST 16, 2008
2:00 pm – 4:00 pm EDT
Waldenbooks Terre Haute
3401 S US Highway 41 #E12
(It’s just as you step into Honeycreek Mall)
Terre Haute, IN  47802

SUNDAY, AUGUST 17, 2008
3:00 pm – 5:00 pm CT
Borders #217 – Brentwood

1519 S. Brentwood Blvd.
Brentwood, MO 63144

I’ll be appearing (har!  like I’m some kinda movie star!) with Colleen Gleason, author of The Gardella Vampire Chronicles.  She seems super cool, so it should be a fun gig all the way around.

34 Days Until Waldenbooks Signing

Here’s an idea to make the event memorable!  In honor of Cole, who seems to be a popular sidekick, we could have a bubble blowing contest.  Most gum left on the face at the end wins.

  1. SciFiChick Says:

Will you be making your way to Indy?

  2. jrardin Says:

I had mentioned that I’d like to when we started planning, since Indy is one of my all-time favorite cities, but nothing came of it. Since you asked, I’ll check again.

  3. Gareth Says:

Hows about how much of the hotel room can you stuff in your suitcase competition. LOL

Or How much free stuff can you score Competition.

Or even Whats the weirdest thing someone brings to the signing.

you could have loads of fun with all of those. LOL

  4. jrardin Says:

    Excellent suggestions all!

  5. nikki Says:

oh curse the distance between america and australia! arghhhh. i will be there in spirit (watch out for me, ill be the lost looking spirit!)
you could have a ‘who’s come the furthest’ competion (obviously i wont win as spirits can’t claim prizes)
hope you have fun (im sure you will)
one day you’ll have to come to australia and then ill be there…will bells on! HA!!!

  6. jrardin Says:

Australia is definitely on my ‘to visit’ list! Meantime I’ll keep my spirit-sensor dialed to Nikki and thank you for thinking of me!

  7. Kalea Says:

I wonder if anyone would notice if I wondered off to Indiana for a day. It’s only a few hours away. Hmmmm……

  8. Gareth Says:

If youre going to Kalea, make sure you dont tell anyone at work about going. That way you can throw a sickie. LOL

  9. Jennifer Says:

Hey SciFiChick, looks like Indy is on-hold for book signings until at least next year, though it is a possibility for when One More Bite releases. We’ll see how Jazfans feel about these first couple of events and then decide.

  10. Kalea Says:

Good idea Gareth.(Extremely fake sounding cough)Oh my head (cough), my stomach (cough), I see the light.

  11. jrardin Says:

Oh, geez, you guys are cracking me up!

  12. Ansu Says:

any plans of coming to south africa ? huh ?? plzzzz say yes !!!! you’d get a GREAT tan (just not now, since it’s winter), but in the summer time it’s wonderful here.
    need any more convincing ???

  13. Gareth Says:

    Don’t go into the light!!!!!

  14. Carolin Says:

Ooooh, I’m jealous! Can’t wait for reports from everyone! :D

  15. Penny Says:

Yes, curse the over 24 hour travel time and huge plane fare. Auckland, Hawaii, LA, mid west….. I’ll be parting in spirit though, look out for the dancing ghost with jet lag :-)
Hey if you go see Nikki and Taz in Aussie, how about a short hop over the ditch to see the NZ fans :-D

  16. jrardin Says:

Ansu, you’re pretty tempting (except for the tanning part–redheads just burn; it’s a curse!) and though I’ve never really considered traveling to South Africa, I truly believe anything’s possible. Let’s keep our fingers crossed and maybe someday it’ll happen!

Penny, I can pretty much guarantee that if I sit on my butt for as long as it takes to fly from America to Australia, I’ll give it the extra oomph to visit New Zealand while I’m in the neighborhood!

  17. Phoebe Says:

Awwww. I’d love to go but I’m going to Disneyland, Paris. That, and I’m not on the same continent anyway… yeah.

GOOD LUCK! I hope they go well :D
