Jaz Poster
I thought you guys might like a sneak peek at a poster (rardin_series_poster.pdf) that Hachette Australia put together for a Jaz Parks promotion there. My brilliantly observant fan Tez, brought it to my attention, telling me she saw it hanging in a bookstore. So I was able to get a PDF copy to show you all.
Wow, suddenly I feel like I’m back in kindergarten! Okay, that’s it, this week is Show and Tell. Barring jars with frogs and porn of any nature, everybody’s invited to brag. Summer vacation plans? Recent promotion? Made it through the week without punching anybody out? Come on, share the fun. It’s winter and we’re BORED!

Awesome!
Actually the thing that strikes me most about that – WOW! Poor things didn’t even get book 2 yet?
Is BTB being released first in the UK? Orbit UK currently has it listed for the 7th whereas Orbit US has Feb 11th. It said the same last time though and got changed last minute.
Am I going to get to brag?! I love getting things first. It happens so rarely that I feel quite entitled to be smug! Bad, I know.

As far as I know, you guys are getting first dibs. But I’m not in that particular loop, so I guess we’ll both have to wait and see on that one.

Great! Hope so. I’m always paranoid of major spoilers. I think my hair thickness has doubled since I got the internet to compensate for me pulling it out every time I read one accidentally.
By the way, I never had show and tell
We had it once in primary school but I was absent. I was quite gutted, until I realised that I didn’t have anything particularly interesting to show. How’s that work over there? I was always so curious, I really wanted to be American as a kid. Did you have them every week/month/year?
January 28th, 2008 at 11:49 am
Show and Tell happened about once a week. Not everybody got to go every time, but maybe five kids would stand up in front of the chalkboard and talk about something interesting. The one time I can remember talking was after Christmas in kindergarten. I stood up to show everybody the red dress Santa brought me. I was so proud!
Sometimes we’d get a grasshopper or some lightning bugs in a jar. And occasionally somebody’s mom would cooperate and bring in the family pet for everyone to see. (Nowadays this has to be preapproved by the administration, and yet sometimes the animals still get loose in the building!)
Kids also often bragged about a loose tooth (those were always a highlight), a new brother or sister, or a recent trip. You never knew what story was going to get told up there, but it always turned out to be interesting.

See, I wanted that! The closest thing we had to show and tell was sharing our germs. Usually Measles. I was the only one never to get it, yay me!
I remember now why we didn’t have it. The first (and incidentally only) one we had, my best friend brought her pet snake and made some of the kids cry. Fun times!
Speaking of frogs, we had one get loose in our building when I was there(high school though). It was the most bizarre day ever. I had a table thrown at me by a teacher (really), walked out of the room, and tripped up over a frog.

LOL!

OOOH! I used to LOVE show and tell!!
When I was a wee one, we had alphabetical show and tell… different letter each day. I remember on “K” day I brought in a knife (butter, of course) and thought I was some majorly hot ploppy for playing the silent “k” card. Looking back, I realize now that it was just my first nerd stripes starting to show.
As for upcoming bragging? I’m TOTALLY taking a trip to New Orleans this fall, and RIDICULOUSLY stoked about it. In a painful “I’m not really sure how I’ll make it that long without my head exploding into a million little overly-excited pieces” sort of way.
P.S. I’m REALLY digging this site!

Luv that you’re into the site!
Have never been to New Orleans. Hope you have lotsa great food and music experiences planned for yourself. We’re still debating the summer vacation. But I do believe roller coasters will be heavily involved.

It says a lot about my personality that I love being name-checked
Have a lovely day!

Hey Tez, good to hear from you!
As for you, Ms. Sarah, I am pretty dern psyched to hear Once Bitten made it all the way to your desk in New Zealand and that you got a kick out of it. Too cool! Let us know how Show and Tell goes. It was always a fun twenty minutes in my educational day!

UK release date for BtB is 7th Feb, so yeah I think that means we get first shot. LOL. Its a damn fine read and will get a copy of the review sent through to you shortly Jenn.
Other than that, loved the poster and its great to see things like that. Have you contacted the publisher and asked for a poster for yourself yet Jenn as I know a number of authors who do that so that they can frame them around the house. Oh yeah and any chance of you putting a blog up on how it feels to get that copy of your book in your mitts with your name on.

Thanks Gareth, I’m looking forward to seeing your review.
When I figure out how it feels to have a book of mine published, I’ll definitely do a blog. Even now, three months after Once Bitten has hit the shelves, it still feels like somebody else’s great fortune!

“Have never been to New Orleans.”
I ALWAYS recommend people at least visit it once, it’s one of the most amazing places I’ve ever been. Unique and brilliant. Everytime I go I find something new and wonderful to love about it.
And, Sarah -
“Give me a book any book with a vamp in it and i will generally enjoy it BUT this story was amazing !!!”
TOTALLY AGREE!!! I’ve been a closet vamp junkie for ages now and love what I’ve read of this series. I’m really looking forward to more late nights spent thinking “CRAP! I have GOT to go to bed… just, maybe in 3 more pages…”
January 29th, 2008 at 10:35 am
There’s nothing more fascinating than vampires really, is there? Me, I blame Buffy. I was 7 when that movie came out and I just haven’t been right since! I even write vamp stuff myself now. I think I’ve written enough short stories and game posts to have about five novels. Maybe I should consider doing that, for myself, if nothing else.
January 29th, 2008 at 12:32 pm
Buffy rocks, up, down and sideways. But for me, it was all about Spike. What a character.
January 29th, 2008 at 2:54 pm
Spike and Faith for me. I actually met James (Marsters) in November and had some photos taken with him. He is VERY Spike. What a GUY!
January 29th, 2008 at 8:05 pm
spike!!!!!
We named one of our cats after him cos i thought hes was hot!!!!
February 1st, 2008 at 2:40 am
AMY!!
i totally agree with you on the late nights …telling yourself ..”just one more chapter…” again and again lol!!

Sarah – between Jaz and another series I’m reading I have been spending many a morning bleary eyed and nursing the biggest starbucks I can purchase.
Does anybody else wonder why they don’t sell their White Mochas in gallon size?
February 2nd, 2008 at 1:18 am
a stupid question from a new zealander…..how much is a gallon?lol
February 2nd, 2008 at 8:26 am
No question asked here is stupid, girl! According to my not-so-extensive research, a gallon equals 3.79 liters.
I can still remember when the government tried to convert us Americans to metric when I was a junior in high school (which would be about 25 years ago now). We all gave it about five minutes and, without even practicing, turned around and shouted, “Not even if my ruler was on fire!”
February 2nd, 2008 at 3:49 pm
hehehehe!!!
I often get confused when im watching US tv or reading US books because of the whole gallon , temp thing.
So a big PLEASE from your international audience…..please add warm, hot, cold, very cold etc when you say the temp in your books !!!
It would save me and alot of others wondering or running for google lol

Duly noted. I may forget sometimes. Apparently parts of my brain that should retain memories have been completely overrun by useless trivia like who Nicole Kidman is currently married to and what Harrison Ford did before he became my favorite actor, but I’ll do my best!
February 4th, 2008 at 11:16 pm
hehehehehe
i know that feeling!!
i was dreaming in class the other day about Brad Pitt and what he would look like if he were of asian desent….i have alot of students from japan right now lol…..and i compleatly forgot what we were doing so started what i thought was the next step…but was actually something we had done 20 min before hand
